The St. Charles Parish Department of Parks and Recreation is thrilled to announce the upcoming transition from R.S.V.P. (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) to Prime Time Seniors. This new program will enable the department to broaden its activities and offerings, reaching even more seniors in our community.
“We have a tremendous opportunity to support our seniors through social, recreational and educational activities,” said President Matthew Jewell. “The creation of Prime Time Seniors will allow us to enhance our existing senior programing and expand our offerings to meet our diverse senior population. “
Traditional activities offered through R.S.V.P. such as volunteering, bean bag baseball, senior bowling, and day trips will continue, along with a wide range of new activities. Prime Time Seniors programming aims to enhance the lives of residents ages 55 and up through existing and new recreation, education, and social engagement opportunities.
“Our commitment to enhancing the quality of life for parish residents, especially our seniors, remains a fundamental priority for the Department of Parks and Recreation,” said Director Duane Foret. “Prime Time Seniors builds on the foundation that R.S.V.P. established, and our department looks forward to witnessing the positive impact this new program will bring.”
New initiatives will emphasize areas such as health and wellness, cultural and artistic activities, social and recreational events, support groups, educational opportunities, lifelong learning, and even technology skills. Additionally, seniors can look forward to gardening, outdoor activities, and volunteer opportunities all designed to create a fulfilling and connected lifestyle.
